2017 Goals

2017 Goals

I have just two goals this year. Goal #1: I’m making everyone homemade gifts next Christmas. Every November I think to myself, “I should make all of my gifts this year!” I love making gifts! I think they are so much more special than something I picked up at Target the week before Christmas. But then I come back to reality and remember that the Christmas season is busy and I do not have the time or capacity to make…

DIY Spray Painted Bathroom Sink

DIY Spray Painted Bathroom Sink

I posted about our hall bathroom makeover a few weeks ago and promised to share how we spray painted our vanity! The vanity was a cream color with gold/brown glitter. Though it was all the rage when the house was built in the 70’s, I was not a fan. I’d seen a lot of pins on Pinterest of people spray painting their vanities and countertops, so I decided to try it to save some money. Here was my experience. I…

DIY Bathroom Towel Rack

DIY Bathroom Towel Rack

I browsed Pinterest for hall bathroom design ideas when I was preparing for our hall bathroom renovation (check out the Before and After). I found this from Start At Home Decor and knew it would be perfect for our bathroom. Here it is in our bathroom! This was SUCH a simple and cheap project!  First we measured the length of our wall. Ours was 86 inches. Then we bought a 1 x 4 x 10 piece of wood from Lowes…

Hall Bathroom Reno – After

Hall Bathroom Reno – After

Our hall bathroom makeover is finally complete! First, let’s take a trip down memory lane…. Weird post from the 70’s, blue wallpaper with sea turtle border, and glittery shell sink = not cute. You can see more before pics in my before post. We tore into our hall bathroom in February after Brad got back from India. There were a few stages to this makeover. We began by removing the post, taking out the toilet, then taking down the wallpaper….

Kitchen Reno

Kitchen Reno

If you’ve been following along on social media, you know that we tackled our kitchen first in our new house.  Here’s the before….        Old, yucky cabinets and striped wallpaper. Yikes.  The first day we got into the house we started working on the cabinets. We took down the wallpaper and sanded the cabinets on the first day. HUGE shout out to our friends the Kingstons for helping with the whole process! Seriously would not have been able to…

Bartletts Buy a House

Bartletts Buy a House

We’re officially home owners! We started the home buying process in April and are finally moving in tomorrow!  Our new-to-us home was built in the 70’s… and it looks like it. As in, wallpaper everywhere. It needs a major facelift, but it’s nothing paint and some updating can’t fix!  It’s a 4 bedroom, 3 bath, raised ranch with a covered porch and fenced backyard. We love the location and we’re excited to make many memories in this home!  I’ll be…

Chevron Afghan

Chevron Afghan

My friend Amy posted about an afghan she recently made, which reminded me that I hadn’t blogged about my most recent project! I made Brad’s dad an afghan two Christmases ago, and I made his mom one last Christmas, so I wanted to make one for his sister Heather this year! I decided to go with the colors of her sorority (Sigma Sigma Sigma). I looooooooooove how this one turned out. It is one of my favorites! I think the…

Race Swag

Race Swag

Swag. Stuff we all get. We all get these medals and bibs at races. We hold onto them because they hold memories and accomplishment!! But eventually the medals make their way to the back of a drawer and the bibs end up in the trash. I’d seen these displays on Pinterest and finally made the time to put one together for Brad and me! It was super easy and inexpensive and it only took me about 30 minutes and most…

DIY Pallet Coffee Cup Holder

DIY Pallet Coffee Cup Holder

I’m so excited to share one of my favorite projects to date! We picked up a pallet off the side of the road when we were living in Springfield and I had been mulling over what to do with it for a while. I finally decided to use it to make a holder for all of our coffee cups! (Or at least some of them.) This was actually a pretty easy project! We did it in two days, but we…

New Corner Shelves

New Corner Shelves

Instead of being depressed about being unemployed and living at my parents house, I’ve decided to take advantage of crashing at their place with lots of free time! They have a great backyard perfect for reading, tanning, and spray painting! Today, I did all three of those things! I’m currently reading Nehemiah with #SheReadsTruth, listening to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows while getting tan, and giving new life to some of our furniture! I bought this corner shelf at…
